IN a cuboid, screentime.

IN a cuboid, screentime.

A master thesis dealing with a smartphone, to be exact, a small cuboid space created by the smartphone, focusing on three aspects: (1) the psychological aspect of the intimacy with an object created by decrease in physical distance between the screen and the eyes. (2) the tactile aspect of the finger movements with potential as gestures located between them. (3) the power relational aspect created by the components of the space in the cuboid.

The three elements that make up this cuboid are the screen, my fingers holding it, and the eyes looking at it. The side created when connecting the vertices of the screen and the vertices of the corresponding part where my eyes are located on the same line becomes the distance between the screen and the eyes, that is, the maximum value my field of vision desires. Indeed, for users of the smartphone, it comes to permeate our daily lives in the most efficient and fastest way so that the space that becomes manifested when using it—between the screen, one’s fingers and one’s eyes—will embody a familiarity and a sense of ease incomparable with any other kind of space.

What elements compose this little space that gives an individual the most sense of ease and concentration, and in what ways do they affect human psychology?
